Using discarded, or "found" mammogram x-rays, which resemble moon-like images with numbered dials, and hand written patient-labled envelopes, a time-based video was created. As the film speed increases, emphasizing time with the sound of a projector, like a metronome count, the images appear like a moth fluttering in the light & shadow.. My process began with deconstructing the materials and showing respect for the lives of the women we witness via these materials and by destroying any & all of the private info on the x-rays and envelopes (that were intended to protect the female patients, now appearing to have only protected the x-rays).
The result is a metaphorical moth-to-flame video loop.
Themes: Light, shadow, loss, gain, life & death, public versus private, what or who is disposable, discarded & repurposed, while defining the result of "away".
