With "found" mammogram x-rays, (artifacts from years before the digital world existed for most), moon-like images, numbered dials, and hand written patient envelopes, the film speed increases emphasizing time while appearing as a moth fluttering in the light, dark, & shadow. My process of deconstructing the materials began with showing respect for these women by destroying any & all of the personal info on the x-ray negatives and on the envelopes (that were intended to protect the female patients, now appearing to have only protected the x-rays). The result is a metaphorical moth-to-flame video loop.
Themes: Light, shadow, loss, gain, life & death, public versus private, what or who is disposable, and the definition of "away".
